Hi friends,

I hope your week is going well! Welcome back to the blog. We are in the third week of our series, The Gospels. This week on the podcast we talked about Luke. I am going to give you a quick summary of what we talked about, so let’s dive in.

The gospel of Luke was most likely written by a man named Luke. He was a physician and a traveling companion of Paul. Luke also wrote the book of Acts and we know this based on the introductions in Luke and Acts.

Luke wrote this for a man named Theophilus. This is different from Matthew and Mark who were both written for a group of people, Luke was written for one guy. Theophilus was a Roman official who became Christian and wanted to know the details of his faith. He might have requested Luke to write this for him.

The book of Luke starts with a detailed story of Jesus’ birth and the preparation for Jesus to come into the world. You might have read Luke at Christmas time before. This is really cool that we have such a detailed account of Jesus’ birth in this gospel.

Luke 3-9 details Jesus’ ministry and His mission. I encourage you to dive into the book of Luke and these chapters because we could talk about the book of Luke all day.

The book of Luke also explains the death and resurrection of Jesus, this is the cornerstone of our faith and is very powerful. If you have never accepted Jesus as your savior, I encourage you to read about Jesus’ life and death in Luke and think about accepting Jesus as your savior.

As I was researching about Luke for this week, the part that stuck out to me most was the story in Luke 24:13-34. This is the story of two men walking to the village of Emmaus and Jesus walks with them. They did not know that they were walking with the risen Jesus and they were describing the events that had taken place just three days earlier (Jesus’ death). They felt disappointed because they thought Jesus had not risen. They felt a lost hope because they were hopeful Jesus would rise and be the one to save them. Little did they know who they were talking to. When they arrived at Emmaus they invited Jesus to eat a meal with them, still unaware of who they were with. Then at dinner, their eyes were opened and they realized that this is the risen Jesus eating dinner with them.

I was struck by this story because how many times do I walk throughout my day blind to the fact that Jesus walks with me. I fear that we will go through life with Jesus by our side, but never acknowledging that He is there. I encourage you to not miss Jesus and the beauty of the gospel. If you have never accepted Him as your Lord and Savior and you want to, or you are confused as to what I am talking about when I say this, reach out to us, we would love to talk to you about salvation. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, spend time with Him. Don’t walk through life blind to the One who is walking with you.

Praying for you guys. Hope you have a great week!

My heart,

Sophie
