Hey guys,

Happy March! Is it officially spring yet? I hope this week has been amazing! Just an update, we have finished our Godly pursuit series. This week is super exciting. We are going to have Bailey Mullens on our podcast this week. I encourage you to go listen because it’s a great conversation. Let’s discuss, shall we?

So, social media. We did an entire series about this so you may be tired of hearing about it. The reality is, it has become such a big part of our life, this is why it is important to talk about it. Today we are talking about what effects social media has on the Church.

As we have previously discussed, social media is an amazing tool that can be used for ministry and I know some people that are using their platforms to love others well and lead people to Christ. The truth is, God uses sinners as vessels, and He can use something that was meant for bad, social media, for His glory. I think that social media has honestly distracted the Church from our mission and purpose. We can get so caught up in the world that we lose sight of what we are called to do, sharing the Gospel. I think that using the platforms we have to glorify God is amazing, but what about how we spend our time?

Do you pick up your phone or Bible when you have a spare minute? Is posting that feel-good Bible verse once in a while on Instagram easy because that is what makes us feel like we are spreading the Gospel. I want to tell you something, the Gospel will offend people, because it is the opposite of the world, and that is a good thing. Now hear me when I say, I am not saying to go pick a fight with people, or to be harsh and rude. But the true Gospel is not just roses and sunshine, it says we are dead in our sins, newsflash, that is a harsh reality. But it is the truth, and what’s even more beautiful is that God has made us alive in Christ. I think as a generation we need to stop being worried about stepping on someone’s toes. Once again, I think that we should be gentle, loving, and respectful, but I do not think we should be afraid to speak the truth because of fear of others' opinions about us. I hope that you are encouraged to proclaim the Gospel everywhere you go, including social media.

My heart,

Sophie
